The first thing you notice about Roseau Dominica is that this is unlike other Caribbean island, it is covered with black sand beaches and hillsides covered in thick brush.

The cruise ships dock in Roseau, the capital city. It’s beautiful with white and pastel-hued homes. A good first stop is Morne Bruce. This is a popular viewpoint at the top of the island. From here you can get a panoramic view of Rosseau and the beautiful Caribbean sea.

Beautiful Roseau Dominica

You must visit the beautiful Botanical Gardens. This is a 40 acre site and is home to Dominica’s national bird, the Sisserou Parrot.

Trafalgar Falls next, which is located in Morne Trois Piton National Park, would be the natural next step. This spot is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, thanks to its sprawling valleys, hot springs, numerous freshwater lakes and five different volcanoes. After a walk through the bright green vegetation, you arrive at a bubbling sulphur pool. This is common in the country, as Dominica is a volcanic island with a number of hot springs. After a little more hiking, you will come upon Trafalger’s falls.

The next step would be Champagne Reef, where a volcano submerged below the surface pushes gasses up, creating bubbles which make it feel like you’re swimming through a glass of champagne.

Another one of Roseau Dominica’s tourist attractions is whale watching, as the country is home to many sperm whales. The mammals are commonly spotted between November and March.
