Your river cruise through Paris has lots to offer.  You could easily become overwhelmed at missing one of it’s beautiful monuments. They do offer tours that allow you to skip the lines access (sort of like special treatment) to help with the time crunch!

The amazing city of lights has so much to offer. It’s wide avenues, scenic parks, unique architecture, and numerous museums, it’s hard to know where to start. Strolling along the Left Bank of the Seine you will stumble across many shops, cafes and cute boutiques. As you cross the Seine you will get amazing views of Notre Dame and Pont d’ Austerlitz.

As you make your way to other locations around the city you can stroll through Luxembourg Gardens which dates back to 1612. There are lots of chairs and fountains to admire throughout the park. To this day it’s still one of the most popular parks in Paris.

This historic area also known as the Latin Quarter is home to the Sorbonne University, one of the oldest colleges in Europe. Nearby is the Pantheon, which was a church up until the French Revolution. It now holds the tombs of many famous French figures. Victor Hugo, and Marie Curie both are laid to rest here.

Classic Parisian Icons

Start your day early with a visit to the Eiffel Tower, Paris’s most recognizable symbol. Arriving in the morning helps you avoid the longest lines and enjoy the tower before the crowds swell. Whether you choose to go up for sweeping views or admire it from below, the surrounding Champ de Mars offers a beautiful setting for photos and a gentle introduction to the city.

The Eiffel Tower which is rich in history and has not only amazing opportunities for memorable photos but is also full of artifacts to discover. The Eiffel Tower is also a great place for a picnic and if you’re feeling adventurous a trip on the lifts to the observation deck. From here you will get an amazing one of a kind views of the city. The Eiffel Tower tends to be busy but it is a must-see while in Paris.

The Jules Verne restaurant will set you back a few bucks. You can still eat on the lower level very reasonably.

From there, take a leisurely walk along the Seine River. Strolling the riverbanks is one of the most Parisian experiences you can have. You’ll pass historic bridges, bookstalls selling vintage prints and novels, and postcard-perfect views at every turn. Make your way toward Notre-Dame Cathedral, still awe-inspiring even viewed from the outside. Its Gothic façade and riverside location make it a must-see stop.

Pause for a classic Parisian breakfast or early lunch at a nearby café. A simple croissant, baguette sandwich, or omelet paired with coffee is both satisfying and authentic. Sit outside if weather allows—people-watching is part of the experience.

Art and Culture

Next, head to the Louvre Museum, home to one of the world’s greatest art collections. With only a day, resist the urge to see everything. Instead, focus on highlights such as the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, and the dramatic galleries of French and Italian masterpieces. Even an hour or two inside gives you a sense of the museum’s grandeur.

If museums aren’t your priority, consider exploring the Île de la Cité or the Latin Quarter, where narrow streets, bookshops, and historic universities create a lively, intellectual atmosphere. The Latin Quarter, in particular, offers charming side streets and casual eateries perfect for a relaxed midday break.

Montmartre and Neighborhood Charm

In the afternoon, travel to Montmartre, one of Paris’s most atmospheric neighborhoods. Climb the steps or take the funicular up to Sacré-Cœur Basilica, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views across the city. The white-domed church itself is striking, but the real joy of Montmartre lies in wandering its winding streets.

Explore Place du Tertre, where artists sketch portraits and paint scenes of Paris, then drift away from the crowds to discover quieter corners filled with cafés, boutiques, and hidden staircases. Montmartre feels like a small village within the city and offers a glimpse of Paris’s bohemian past.

Paris After Dark

As evening approaches, return toward the city center for dinner. Choose a traditional bistro for French classics like steak frites, duck confit, or a simple but perfectly prepared pasta or salad. Pair your meal with a glass of French wine and take your time—dining in Paris is meant to be enjoyed, not rushed.

After dinner, take one last walk along the Seine or through neighborhoods like Saint-Germain-des-Prés. If energy allows, consider a Seine river cruise, which offers a romantic and relaxing way to see illuminated landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, and bridges glowing against the night sky.

A Day to Remember

One day in Paris will only scratch the surface, but it’s enough to fall in love. By mixing famous sights with relaxed walks, good food, and time to simply absorb the atmosphere, you’ll leave with memories that last far longer than 24 hours—and almost certainly a desire to return.
