You must visit the historic river town in Madison, Indiana. There are old-fashioned carriage rides, beautiful parks, antique shops and wonderful shopping and restaurants. It’s a day in itself.

If you had any time left after that, there are still no shortage of activities to keep you busy and happy. You might be lucky enough to be visiting during one of the city’s many festivals. Everyone in the city seems to be involved. The Lanthier Winery offers beautiful tulip gardens and wine tasting. The Schroeder Saddletree Factory Museum is very unusual. You’ve probably never been to any place like this before. It is America’s last 19th Century workshop of this kind, and seems frozen in time.

Enjoy some Architecture

The Francis Costigan House and the Jeremiah Sullivan House are a glimpse into the past as well as a beautiful example of some Greek Revival architecture. The Madison Railroad Station Museum is a a permanent exhibit gallery featuring Jefferson County and Madison history, a restored 1895 railroad station, a wooden caboose, and a Children’s Education facility. There are also old photographs and a collection of old original government documents to view.

I am sure after one day in Madison, you will wish you had more. Have fun!
